Diagnostic charge

Thompson services charge a diagnostics fee of £50.00 + vat for a call out request for a boiler, heating or plumbing fault. This charge covers the cost of the first 30 minutes on the job and or to provide a diagnostics report on what is needed to carry out the repair of the reported issue, if we are able to resolve the issue within the first 30 minutes this is the total charge you will pay, plus any materials that were required (NO HIDDEN CHARGES).

Further parts required after initial visit

If after the initial visit it is found that parts are required to resolve the issue, a diagnostics charge will still apply if you choose to use us to carry out the repair, the diagnostics charge will be waived, if you choose not to go with us for the repair the diagnostic charge will need to be paid in full.

Beyond economical repair

For boiler repairs if an engineer deems the boiler as beyond economical repair, a diagnostics fee will still apply, if you choose us to replace your boiler after a quotation has been accepted and deposit for installation paid the diagnostics charge will be waived.

Revisits

If a revisit is required within 30 days of a fault, there will be no additional diagnostics fee to pay as long as the call out is related to the initial call, if the call out is unrelated a further diagnostics fee might apply.

Boiler repairs

Due to the fact more often than not boiler components fail as a result of other failing parts, we cannot guarantee that after the initial repair further issues won’t arise with the boiler, with other failing components. If other parts need to be fitted this would be at additional costs and not as part of the initial charge. Refunds will not be given if a further issue arises with the boiler on a different part.

If the part fitted becomes faulty this will come under our 12 month warranty period for more information on this see below.

Condition of boiler and or central heating system

Repairing a boiler and or central heating system does not mean that it is manufactured or installed unsatisfactorily or to the prevailing standards or regulations. We do not accept responsibility for any inadequacy attributable to the original design or installation of your boiler and make no warranty as to fitness for purpose or condition.

Warranty information

We provide a 12 month warranty on all boiler, heating and plumbing repairs. If the part failed that we fitted within 12 months we will replace it free of charge.

Please note for boiler repairs we need to send parts back to the manufacturers for analysis on why it has failed, if it is found that the part has failed due to system design fault or another component within the boiler causing it to fail ie power surge, the warranty would be invalid.
